Dominique Hogan, MMus, BMus, DCS

Artistic Director/Founder

Dominique is a professional Musical Director, Accompanist, Arranger, Composer and MIDI programmer. She has worked in throughout the US and Canada and is now happy to be in Vancouver. Some of her favourite credits are: Musical Director: A Year with Frog and Toad, Orpheus in the Underworld, And the World Goes ‘Round, Romance, Romance., She Loves Me, The Robber Bridegroom, Broadway in the 90s – a musical review, Musical Director/Vocal Arranger for Not in Earnest!, an original musical adaptation of The Importance of Being Ernest, Assistant Musical Director/Accompanist: Into the Woods, vocal director and arranger/midi programmer: The Wizard of Oz, Composer for the children’s play Just So Stories, Conductor/Assistant Musical Director: Bye Bye Birdie, Vocal Director: Once Upon a Mattress.

She also has a very strong technical background and has prepared numerous custom MIDI arrangements using sequencers/samplers and computer, orchestrating entire scores for theatres to perform musicals with digitally recorded “virtual orchestras” rather than live orchestra, as well as preparing custom “karaoke” or background tapes for individual singers to perform to.

Dominique holds a Master’s Degree in Musical Direction for Musical Theatre/Lyric Opera from Arizona State University, a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Theory, from McGill University, and a Diploma of Collegiale Studies in Piano Performance from Marianopolis College in Montreal. She has been playing the piano since the age of 4 and at the age of 16, was awarded a scholarship to attend Marianopolis College in Montreal to study music and continue private piano studies with Luba Zuk at McGill University. Consequently she was accepted at McGill University in Music Theory where she continued piano studies with Luba Zuk and Esther Master, there she also studied Jazz voice with Ranee Lee and Jazz piano with André White. She was then awarded a full scholarship at Arizona State University to complete her Masters degree in Musical Direction for Musical Theatre. She also continued her piano studies with Jan Thomson at ASU. During her graduate studies she worked as the Lyric Opera Department’s resident accompanist, accompanying and playing in the orchestra pit, for Operas and Musicals, as well as being Accompanist to the department’s Musical Theatre and Opera classes. She studied opera conducting with Dr. William Reber, and Orchestral Conducting with Dr. Timothy Russell. She has also studied voice with Betty Doroschuk, Colin Doroschuk, Jennifer Allen and currently with Spencer Welch, Vocal Jazz with Ranee Lee, and jazz piano with André White.

Dominique is also the Music Director at Mount Seymour United Church.
